DUKE&KAY CONTRIBUTES SUCCESSFULLY TO THE INTEGRATION PROJECT OF AN ITALIAN GROUP IN THE MARINE SECTOR

Situation

An American Private Equity Firm recently acquired an Italian Group, a global marine interiors contractor specialized into both refit and newbuilding boat segments, as well as scheduled maintenance and spare part divisions. Headquartered in Italy with offices in Europe, US and Asia, the Group was embarking in a business integration activity.

Duke&Kay activity

The Group was facing a strong demand in the market for its services.

Duke&Kay mission was:

To find a CFO to support the PE Firm and the Group of Companies, by implementing an effective financial reporting, the planning system and the performances analysis to meet their specific projects requirements; in summary … to allow better monitoring and management of the business on a day-to-day basis.

To find a Head of IT to complete the pre-acquisition due diligence, to develop the teamwork, to design the ERP architecture and systems to enable the Group integration.

Results

With DuKe&Kay Managers driving the project, cooperating with the top management and the financial advisors already involved, the integration process has been completed in the set time of 6 months. Some disparities have been overcome: corporate culture, different policies, poor communication, resistance to change in the workforce, critical decision-making processes.
